Allen Daviau (1942-2020)

The five time Oscar nominated cinematographer who passed away yesterday due to Covid complications was the eye behind some of the the most striking frames in cinema history. A frequent Spielberg collaborator he lensed Empire Of The Sun, E.T., The Color Purple and Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom. Spielberg paid tribute to his friend and colleague, saying that “Allen was a wonderful artist, but his warmth and humanity were as powerful as his lens. He was a singular talent and a beautiful human being”.
